Despite droughts and torrential downpours the 21st Weaverham and Acton Bridge Show has been a great success. Exhibitors braved the flood in the Community Centre car park and used umbrellas to protect their exhibits rather than themselves. It was lovely to welcome people who support the Show year on year as well as new people entering for the first time. The atmosphere always seems friendly and exhibitors exchange tips and comments generously and sometimes enviously.
The centre was ablaze with colour. We ran out of wall space for paintings, children’s pictures, patchwork quilts and photographs. It was really gratifying to note that you had heard our plea for Art entries this year. The number more than doubled. Tables groaned under the weight of unusual and heaviest vegetables alongside those we would all like to grow. There were flower arrangements, vases of flowers and beautiful handicrafts. The Domestic Produce Section was so well subscribed it took our two judges the whole of their allocated time to deliberate the results.
Not everyone can win but there is a full list of winners on our website here. We’d like to say a big thank you to all of you who entered and had a go. We hope you felt welcomed and enjoyed the experience and will do it again.
We are indebted to our sponsors, judges and volunteers without whom there would be no show. We also need to thank our local schools for their entries and the Community Centre for the use of their rooms and providing delicious afternoon teas for visitors.
Do keep an eye on the website for latest news and updates and we hope to welcome you all back in 2015
Elizabeth Gidley, Secretary. Weaverham and Acton Bridge Show.
